A portion from the sale of Peter Beard's piece went towards the building of four new modern, concrete classrooms at Man-Rod Academy.
The mission of Man-Rod Academy is to educate its students, to empower them with the opportunity and the tools, to effect positive changes in Lamu and in Kenyan society, by ensuring their strongest and most competitive, academic performance in primary and secondary school to prepare them for the eventuality for higher education in Kenya and abroad.
Our Academic program is unique; while we follow the Kenyan school system, our status as a private academy affords us the liberty to implement teaching techniques that accommodate the needs of our students.
The children are bright, full of energy, healthy, curious, and deserving of the best life possible. Our teachers are dedicated to nurturing them, from an early age until adulthood.
Essential to education is health-care. Our students receive routine check-ups, vaccinations, diagnostic, and therapeutic care free of charge. The clinic has made vast improvements in the lives of our students and their families, and in some cases we have saved lives.
The organic farm is cultivated and cared for by a staff of five farmers, managed by Betty. The Academy’s lunches come from the farm’s produce of coconuts, mangoes, spinach, kale, tomatoes, beans, melons, and zucchini; providing nutritious lunches for the students every day.
Man-Rod Academy gives our students a superior education and the guidance they need to stay the course through College. This educational opportunity sends them beyond the limited culture and neglect found in Lamu Town. We greatly appreciate your support.
Man-Rod Academy needs your continued support to educate and care for our bright, young Kenyan boys and girls. Only through your generosity, will our students receive a superior education, excellent healthcare, and nutritious meals.
